Description

At the age of eleven, Daniel el Mochuelo senses that his path lies in the village, with his friends, his people, and his birds. But his father wants him to go to the city to study for his baccalaureate. Throughout the night preceding his departure, Daniel, sleepless, with a lump in his throat, will evoke the escapades with his friends -Roque el Moñigo and Germán el Tiñoso- through the fields, discovering the sky and the earth, and will relive the adventures of the simple people of the village. Set in rural post-war Spain, although there are no geographical references, it is easy to identify the place with Cantabria, specifically with the town of Molledo (Valle de Iguña), where the author spent his summer vacations in childhood. According to the author's confession, he found his narrative style with this work.
